Digital Director - FMCG brand

The brief:

To find perfect-fit Digital Director role candidates for this fast-growing FMCG brand. 

Reporting to the CEO and executive team, this role focussed on their transformational growth programme for ecommerce and digital. Candidates would have substantial strategic experience to develop both a three-year and 12-month plan, with an integrated approach to global digital, ecommerce, CRM and loyalty activities. 

The client had seen significant growth of its digital operation during the pandemic and was keen to accelerate growth further with a digital talent who could oversee a large team with a people-centric view. Ideally, the candidate would have a background in FMCG/retail with corporate experience, along with a start-up mindset to complement their positive and collaborative corporate mentality.

The process:

As with all roles, our first step was the discovery process with our client, gaining a clear understanding of their company, culture and objectives. We worked together to flesh out a clear brief, criteria and sector-specific target list. We looked at candidates we have established relationships with and utilised our external network to source additional candidates. 

Our short list of candidates was outstanding, with exceptional talent enticed by both the brand itself and the transformation opportunities available. They were diverse and experienced with the strategic and digital knowledge to support growth in new territories, but also with the leadership qualities required to ‘roll their sleeves up,’ inspire teams and fit the start-up culture of the organisation. 

Once the shortlist was presented and agreed with our client, further interviews and assessments were conducted for the client to begin interviews internally. 

The result:

Our client was delighted with the quality of candidates. Interviews were successful and their chosen candidate from our shortlist was recruited. The candidate’s experience and leadership-style made them an ideal Digital Director to deliver on their objectives for transformational growth.
